Abstract
Following a classification of phosphates according to modern rules of nomenclature, the separation of complex mixtures of linear and cyclic condensed phosphates is described. Three methods are
evaluated: ion exchange liquid chromatography with chloride concentration gradient, ion chromatography associated with conductometric detection which allows rapid separations (~ 30 minutes),
capillary electrophoresis with indirect absorptiometric detection, this technique being, for the moment, restricted to the first terms of phosphates (ortho, di and triphosphate).
